Earth Month 2021. The time is now

No matter where you live, every country, state, and city celebrates different holidays every month. Sometimes we remember, honor, celebrate or bring awareness to something.

Some of those dates scale up to be of universal standard. April is when we celebrate and bring awareness to mother Earth.

If you’re having trouble thinking of why it matters, we highly recommend you take a look at our company’s mission.

Like we said last week, water has been a huge topic this year, and the earth is made of 70% of water. And a lot of celebrating the earth has to do with being waterkeepers, for our and the next generations.

Some experts say we have merely a 20-year gap until we reach a tipping point of no return regarding the environmental crisis. We don’t like to be so grim and want you to know about a few things you can do to put your grain of sand on the balancing side that matters.

Here are some things you can do this month (and always) to help our planet:

  • Ditch the plastic. For real this time. If you’re still buying single-use plastic, even if it is from time to time, maybe you haven’t made one of the simplest and most effective switches to ditch plastic: buying a reusable water bottle. Our favorites are glass and stainless steel and there is a huge range of options to choose from.
  • If you live near the beach, find a local beach clean-up group. Lots of NGOs, non-profits and even government (or adjacent) agencies get involved with earth month and organize beach clean-ups. Aside from helping it’s a great outdoor activity for families and kids.
  • If you’re not using it, unplug it. Plugs consume energy even though your cellphone isn’t attached to your charger most of the time, it can be annoying to remember to unplug and re-plug it, we know. However, it’s a minor discomfort for a relevant reason. You can even find electric strips that “turn off” the entire power of the group attached to it to save energy
  • Composting. If you’re just throwing away all the scraps from your food (think onion peels, leek’s green part, tomato stems, etc.) you’re missing out on a fun and rewarding pastime, and thus, the earth is too. Give it a try, it’s easy and if you don’t want to do it at home, local farms would gladly take your scraps.

We’re going to keep talking about ways to help keep our earth safe and bountiful this month! Don’t miss out and follow us on all social media platforms at @jasonhydeworld
