The fashion market is in constant change. There are big brands with big names, and then, there’s fast fashion. Fast Fashion is the contemporary term used by fashion retailers for designs that flow from the catwalk quickly, to capture current fashion trends and is usually cheap.
If you are a millennial or a baby boomer, you have heard of the Ozone layer, and how we’ve been opening a huge hole in it for years now. The truth is, that it’s not really a hole, but more of an ozone depletion we are creating around certain areas of the planet. But what is the ozone layer in the first place? According to national geographic, “The ozone layer is a thin part of the Earth’s atmosphere that absorbs almost all of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet light”.
With everything going on in the world, we often ask ourselves, where are we going? Am I doing everything I can to guarantee my kids will have a healthy planet? What about my grandkids? Or even their kids? The truth is, we don’t know what will happen tomorrow.
Meet RACHEL CARSON
2020 is the year of questioning. Bold affirmation, am I right? But the truth is… everyone had a lot of time to think about life, its meaning, the world ending, where are we going as a race? And all those philosophical questions we pondered on while being quarantined. Well, I’m sure most of you got to the conclusion that the environment was suffering… Yes, it got a breath of fresh air during the last months… but this doesn’t mean we can go back to our life as if nothing changed, because it did. We are now aware of how what we do affects our planet, and it’s something we should consider while making everyday choices.
We’ve been talking about sustainability for a while now (I mean, we are a sustainable brand), but like tons of “trending” topics out there, this isn’t a black or white thing. We could compare it a lot with dieting, if you have to suffer through it, something is not right…
So, if you’re like us… you’re probably still being careful and wearing your mask when you go out. That’s why this week comes with another amazing DIY idea! (and I’m not saying it’s amazing just because I’m writing this post, but because it involves some Upcycling). You do remember what upcycling is, right? If not google says: verb, reuse (discarded objects or material) in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original.
A few weeks ago, we posted about sustainable restaurants in our hometown, Miami. We had the opportunity of chatting with Patrick Lingle, General Manager at Planta (one the restaurants that was featured on that post) about how a sustainable restaurant works. Is it about the food? The experience? The ambient? How to balance flavor with “good for the planet” ingredients. Let me tell you… we’ve got answers!
As you probably know, summer is here! That means lots of beach fun, and, rain… because, we’re in Miami. But rain doesn’t mean that UV rays won’t get to you, also, we live in a very humid place that tends to make our skin dryer than usual. This is why we wanted to take this opportunity to talk about skin care, and how important it really is.
Miami is a city full of life. Filled with diversity, you can find almost everything your heart desires. Our hearts, always want food (I know, right?) and as a sustainable brand we strive for always making an impact, – positive of course – on the planet. Since, you know, it’s the only one we have.
